Double Digits!

Hard to believe my darling Matthew but you've now been here for 10 years. 10 years of your smiles. 10 years of your goofiness. 10 years of your hugs and kisses. 10 years of you.

It's been a great 10 years.


In 10 years you've come so far and I see so much potential for how far you may still reach. You are always striving, climbing, grasping...not for what is in reach but for what is just out of reach knowing that if you just try hard enough you can brush your fingers on it and maybe knock it down.

This last year has really been amazing. Almost like a baby, you've been continually amazed by everything and discovering how it works but at a much higher level. Your inquisitiveness has been insatiable but what has brought me so much joy is watching your confidence levels soar. You are truly growing into who you want to be. A sometimes joker, the occasional student, but always a sweet, lovable, guy.


This year I haven't had to fight with you as much over chores or schoolwork. You have learned the hard lesson of doing what needs to be done before what you want to do.


The most amazing thing has been watching you and Nico. From the start you've been so good with him but even now when he's been at his most trying, you have been wonderful with him. He loves so much when you take him outside to play or to go for walks. His eyes light up when he sees you come into the room because you are his "Maa". You come to his therapy sessions so you can learn how to help him talk and then you practice with him. You make up games that he can play so he can be like the big boys. You are an incredible big brother and he is so lucky to have you.
But more than that, we are lucky to have you. You have such a joyful outlook on life. You can find the good in any situation and find a positive spin even out of breaking your arm. Your laugh is infectious as is your good humor and I'm so thankful to have you in my life.


You are now and forever, my Matthew and I will always be grateful to be your Mommy.
