I've got mixed emotions on this one. There were times when it was very, very good. The author had obviously put tons of time into developing the history of the people and world he created. My big beef is that sometimes it seemed like he was so intent on making sure everyone had all of that history right away which slowed down the pace in a lot of places rather than letting it come out more naturally in other ways. It is a rich world and deserves to have its intricacies known, just not at the sacrifice of keeping things moving. However, when you remember that the author was 15 when he wrote it, you realize just what an amazing piece of work this is.
I'm hoping that with much of the background know laid out that the 2nd book will move a little better.
