The 9th book in the Rachel Morgan series. Rachel has been shunned for her use of black magic and now the coven knows that her children would be demons and her blood can kindle demon curses. Their secret that witches are actually demons stunted in their magic from the war between demons and elves is dangerously close to coming out and they will do anything to prevent that, including lobotomizing Rachel and taking her ovaries. Her only saving graces are that there is dissension in the ranks of the coven leaders and her friends and just how far they are willing to go to help keep her safe. But which friends can she really trust and which enemies will help her in her hour of need?
Another gripping, fast paced book. Tons going on all over the place and it's hard to put down. I love how Harrison keeps it real tho. Rachel is upset by the choices she has to make and she remembers them when she makes future choices. She's haunted by her mistakes and we see the consequences those mistakes have, even when they are made because she is trying to be moral. It's a fine line to walk but Rachel continues to have a heart and follow a moral code that I think many would have let go of a long time ago.
