Second time reading this one, first time with the boys. They seemed to really enjoy it, especially hearing about Pa building the house by himself and all the goings on with the Indians. The fire scared them and started a discussion on how and why that happened and what would happen around here in case of a fire (always a good discussion to have). We studied more about malaria, blood cells, infections, and sprains. We learned about what kind of animals, plants, and trees grew on the prairie. We are now using this as a jumping point to learn more about Indians and the Osage in particular.
